DNS is like an Internet directory. It connects the name people remember with the server where the website is stored.
Real-world example
Mike's Pizza opens online
Mike registers mikesbestpizza.com. That gives his business an online address, but it does not create a website.
He also purchases web hosting. His menu, photographs, contact page, and ordering information are stored there.
When a customer types the domain, it points to the hosting account, and the hosting server displays Mike's website.
