How to Install WordPress on Your Hosting Account

Use the control panel’s supported application installer when available. Before installation, confirm that the domain resolves to the hosting account and that no existing site will be overwritten.

Before you begin

Sign in through the official client area and keep account-specific values from your activation email available. Make a backup before changing production data or configuration.

Steps

  1. Choose the destination: Select https, the correct hostname, and an empty directory. Leave the directory field blank to install at the domain root.
  2. Set administrator access: Use a non-obvious admin username, a generated password, and an actively monitored email address.
  3. Set site basics: Enter a real site title and discourage search indexing only if the site is still private or under construction.
  4. Complete the install: Record the admin URL, then remove any installer-generated temporary credentials.
  5. Harden and verify: Enable automatic minor updates and backups, remove unused plugins/themes, and test permalinks, forms, and HTTPS.

Important notes

  • Never install over an existing directory without a verified backup.
  • WordPress application credentials are separate from hosting-panel credentials.

When to contact support

Contact support if the documented controls are unavailable, the service reports an account-level restriction, or the issue continues after these checks. Include the affected domain or service, the exact error, a timestamp with timezone, and the steps already tried. Never include passwords, one-time codes, private keys, or complete payment details.
